• Adoption : Foster Care

  • An ever increasing number of Americans are turning to agencies for adoption. This trend is fortified by the LGBT community, and women who do not want to go through giving birth to a baby. As it turns out, Americans are not only adopting within the country. Each year, thousands of U.S citizens adopt children from overseas, according to the U.S.Citizenship and Immigration Services’ website. This is known as an in ter-country adoption. For example, every year a good number of American couples travel across the Pacific to China and other Asian nations in the hope of adopting a child. Many poor families or young mothers in these countries choose to put up their children for foster care for various reasons. And since many American women opt not to or can’t give birth to their own baby, they are looking beyond national borders.

  • Adoption is by no means easy, let alone adopting from abroad. Those who wish to build a family this way will have to go through a lot of paperwork throughout the entire process. They will need to have all their own documents, together with those of their children’s’ authenticated and/or legalized by the concerned parties, which could take weeks, if not months, and results in a lot of travelling back and forth.
